The Chautauqua Institution & Digitell, Inc Launch Great Lecture Library

The Largest Collection of On-Line Lectures From the World’s Greatest Lecture Platform

Jamestown, NY – June 1, 2005 – The Chautauqua Institution and Digitell, Inc have teamed up to launch one of the greatest collection of lectures ever assembled, given by the world’s leading authorities and most provocative thinkers. Now, for the first time, this extraordinary collection of educational, entertaining and spiritual lectures are available to the general public. Each summer since 1874, the most important speakers and preachers have come to the Chautauqua Institution to share their ideas and thoughts with tens of thousands of annual visitors - from health to sexuality, religion to politics, history to current events and philosophy to science. "Every year I’ve listened to these great lectures and sermons while we are recording them," says Jim Parker, president of Digitell, Inc. "When I witness the positive impact they have on people, it’s driven me to bring these lectures to all adults," adds Parker.

The Great Lecture Library is perfect for the individual looking for something more than music or audio books. All lectures were recorded live, allowing the listener to capture the emotion of the crowd and the feeling of actually being in the audience. With over 1,200 lectures to select from, there is a Great Lecture for everyone. The Library is expected to increase to close to 3,000 lectures and sermons as the old analog recordings are converted to digital, with new lectures being added every week. "This is by far the best programming I have found to keep people intellectually and cognitively limber," says Charles Inlander, consumer health advocate, public radio commentator and best-selling author.

The Great Lecture Library is available as an annual subscription for individuals, libraries, senior communities, educators, clergy and church groups or organizations. You can also download lectures a-la-carte. Lectures can be streamed for easy listening on your computer or downloaded and transferred to an or other listening device for portability. Additional features of the site include Send-A-Friend, A Lecture Rating System and complete search ability of lectures via speaker name, key word, topic or lecture title.
